On behalf of the Friends of Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge, please
join us as we celebrate International Migratory Bird Day next weekend.
Beginning at 5:30 on Friday afternoon, May 19th, we’re hosting an Artists
Reception at the Refuge Headquarters to kick off our annual Art Show. Stop
by to meet the artists and preview the show. Artwork will remain on
display through July.
Following the reception, Maeve Kim will hold a presentation on Spring
Migration in the Refuge classroom, beginning at 6:30pm.
On Saturday morning, we’ll kick off our IMBD events with a sunrise bird
walk. Meet at the Maquam / Black Creek Trail parking lot at 5:30am.
At about 7:15 on Saturday, please meet at the Refuge Headquarters for a
quick introduction (and headcount for lunch!) before heading out on one of
three different walks on the refuge. At 11:00, we’ll return to the
visitor’s center to compare notes, have lunch and a presentation on the
Bobolink Project by Allan Strong.
All events, and lunch, are free and pre-registration is not required,
although you may call 802-868-4781 if you have any questions. Please dress
for the weather, and remember that many of the trails are still very wet.
