Resist and Rebuild Summit
Saturday, May 20th at Montpelier High School
Central Vermont Citizen Action Network (CVCAN), has organized a Resist and Rebuild Summit where local organizations working toward a common purpose of social, racial, economic & environmental justice can assemble tables and share space to engage, educate and build relationships with concerned citizens. Interested citizens can meet with neighbors/ local leaders to discuss and join the group that most helps them "find their calling”. People will gather together for panels on "Our Planet" (discussing Climate, Water & Clean Energy) and "Our People" (discussing Race, Gender and Economic Justice). The panels will be followed by workshops for deeper discussion and education around how to respond effectively and locally to address these critical issues.
This is modeled after the Windham County Citizen Action Network (WeCAN) which held a very successful fair last month that attracted 800 area concerned citizens together. This will be a family-friendly event, with childcare/kid activities, and will include: music, poetry, yoga, great local food. Please check out the website for schedule details, view participating groups and speakers and to RSVP. Come network, learn and act!
