Northfield has been selected as a Vermont Promise Community. The Promise Communities initiative, overseen by the Vermont Agency of Human Services, focuses on helping our youngest children have the best possible start in life.
Right now, a steering committee from the Northfield community including parents, community members, school staff, people from child care, mental health, nonprofits and the state are working together to help draft a plan. This plan will be based on what Northfield families want to see in our community to help our children age 0 – 6 succeed and be ready for Kindergarten. Once our plan is complete, we will be eligible to receive $150,000 to implement our plan. We need your help as we work together to figure out how to help support our children. Please reach out to me if you would like to work on this important project.
We invite you to attend an informational meeting and idea gathering session at the United Church in Northfield on Sunday May 21 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. The church is fully accessible for those interested in attending with mobility challenges.
Dinner will be served after the meeting for all attending and childcare will be provided.
We would love to have all community members attend especially the families of these young children in our community.
Hope to see you there!
