Paint, Battery, Bulb Collection, Tunbridge Saturday

Past event
May 13, 2017, 9 AM to 1 PM

The Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District will be at the Tunbridge Transfer Station this Saturday, May 13, 9am - 1 pm for a FREE collection of paint, batteries and fluorescent bulbs.

These three materials are covered under Vermont Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation, which means the manufacturers of these hazardous, hard-to-manage materials must pay for disposal. As such, there are outlets throughout the state that will accept your drop off of the materials. CVSWMD's Additional Recyclables Collection Center is one of the designated outlets for all of the listed materials here. The ARCC is located at 540 North Main Street in Barre. But on Saturday, we'll be coming to you for a special collection day.

Please follow these guidelines when you bring your items to us:
Paint - all architectural paints are accepted at this collection, but the paint must be in the original container with a legible label. If the label or original container are not available, save it for a Household Hazardous Waste Collection (in Tunbridge July 8). For more information about paint collections or to find a drop off location near you, go to https://www.paintcare.org/paintcare-states/vermont/#/everyone.

Batteries - We can accept ALL types of batteries. Alkaline batteries don't need to be prepared before drop off, but all other types of batteries must have both terminal ends taped with scotch tape or packing tape. If you have been saving your batteries in a bucket or box, please go through them and pull out any that are not alkeline, such as rechargables or button cells, and follow the instructions for taping. To find year-round battery collection sites near you go to: http://www.call2recycle.org/locator/

Fluorescent Bulbs - Bring compact fluorescent bulbs loosely in a box or bag. Double bag any broken bulbs individually and label "broken bulb" on the bag. If bringing fluorescent tubes please do NOT tape the bulbs together as this can cause breakage and results in a safety concern for our staff. Find year-round fluorescent bulb collections here: http://www.lamprecycle.org/state-local-laws/vermont/participating-manufacturers/
