Bicycle Ride of Silence

Past event
May 17, 2017, 5:30 to 7 PM

For several years, I have led a bike ride in Northfield as part of the International Ride of Silence. The Ride of Silence was started 15 years ago as a way to remember bicyclists, pedestrians and other road users who have been killed or injured by cars. Once again this year, on the 3rd Wednesday in May, we will have a ride leaving from Bicycle Express on Depot Square in Northfield, at 5:30 PM. The route will be the same also, riding--at a moderate speed--south on Rt. 12 and Rt. 12A to the Roxbury cemetery. The distance each way is about 6 miles.
This year, I am not going to be able to ride along, due to some leg problems that are keeping me from bike riding. I will be there to see the riders off, Frank Partsch, who has gone on all the rides before has offered to lead the ride. I hope a good number of bicyclists will join Frank for this quiet ride.
If anyone (riding or not) wants the ride to remember a particular person, please send me the name & information. People who are lost in these types of accidents are connected to many others, and the effects are wide-ranging.
