The Westminster School Board is hosting an open forum on Act 46 and Alternative Governance Structures on May 13 from 9am until noon at the Westminster School. The purpose is to bring together school board members to explore how to address the goals of Act 46 in areas that have not yet voted to merge. School board members, select board members, and the general public are all invited. Refreshments will be available from 8:30 until 9, with the meeting starting promptly at 9.
Fletcher Proctor, town moderator, will be facilitating, and an official from the Agency of Education has been invited to address technical questions. The agenda includes a presentation about the state of mergers across Vermont, sharing from each district about their situation related to Act 46, and a panel of school officials from around the state sharing their ideas about alternative governance structures and exploring next steps to meet the goals of Act 46 through more flexible alternatives.
