The Teen Center in Middlebury is hosting its annual fundraising event this coming Saturday at Carol's Hungry Mind Cafe (Many thanks to Carol's for the use of their space).

"The Spring Thaw", which runs from 6-9pm this Saturday (5/6), will be a lovely evening of music, exceptional hors d'oeuvres, and local craft beers and wines. There will be delicious non-alcoholic options available as well. This event is intended for adults.

In addition to supporting ACT and eating great food, you will be entered into a raffle for a number of prizes!

Tickets are $25, and can be purchased online at: http://addisonteensspringthaw.weebly.com/

Why support ACT? Many of us who do not currently have teens may wonder about the importance of giving to such organizations. The presence of a vibrant teen center benefits us all, and is dependent on charitable gifts. ACT provides a safe place, after school programs, and healthy snacks to kids in grades 7-12 in our district. Program offerings include tennis lessons, movie nights, and art classes. The both structured and unstructured opportunities at ACT aid working parents who may not be home at the end of the school day. What is more, a number of studies have shown improvements in grades, classroom behavior, and healthy habits for youth who regularly visit teen centers. Perhaps most important: risky behaviors tend to drop for teens who participate! (http://youth.gov/youth-topics/afterschool-programs/benefits-youth-families-and-communities). The success of area youth impacts the strength of our community in the long run.

Thank you for considering a donation to ACT!
