Community Harvest Festival at the Monitor Barn‏ Nov. 9

Past event
Nov 9, 2013, 11 AM to 3 PM

Richmond Elementary Farm to School invites the entire community to our 4th Annual Harvest Festival at the Monitor Barn on Rt. 2 this Saturday, November 9 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. We’ll be serving a delicious homemade lunch (wood-fired pizza, soup, and apple crisp). Local farmers and farm crafters will be selling vegetables, meat, goat cheese, eggs, maple syrup, honey, jams, handcrafted soap, wool, and more. And there will be loads of fun harvest-themed free activities for kids: grinding grain, making corn husk dolls and tea sachets, making pizza, blending bike-powered smoothies, visiting with farm animals, climbing on hay bales, painting a community mural, and much more.

It’s a fun event held in a beautiful location (which WILL be heated!). We’ll also have great, live music provided by Loggerhead (11-1) and the Peterman-Sheldon Duo (1-3). And a silent auction too. Think ahead about what you’ll need for your winter kitchen, for Thanksgiving, and for the upcoming season of gift-giving, and come stock up now. It’s also a great chance to meet your local farmers and learn about their farms. Producers who will be joining us include: VYCC, Arcana, Maple Wind Farm, Full Moon Farm, Hestholl Icelandics, Slopeside Syrup, Sunflower Soaps, Midnight Goat Farm, Bee Happy Vt, and Marsh Hollow. (Note: VYCC is offering, by pre-arrangement, 50# of winter veggies for just $90, plus an optional chicken for $10 - to be picked up at the festival. Email caelan.keenan@vycc.org)

Hope to see you there! Festival proceeds will support Richmond Elementary's Farm to School program. Questions? Contact farmtoschool@cesuvt.org
