Preview of May 1 City Council Meeting

Past event
May 1, 2017, 7 to 8:30 PM

Dear Neighbors,

This coming Monday, the City Council will convene its first of two meetings for the month of May. Prior to our Council meeting, we will have a work session on permit reform from 6:15 to 7:15pm. The Council meeting will begin immediately after the Commission meeting in Contois Auditorium in City Hall.

We have a relatively brief agenda. The first item on our deliberative agenda is a public hearing on the citizen participation plan. The amendments particularly pertain to the development of the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Plan. The amendments clarify the process in the development of the plan to ensure meaningful community participation.

The second item on our agenda is a resolution that would require property owners with 8 and 9 units on a property to provide wheeled recycling toters for every three units by September of this year, 6 or 7 units by March of next year and 2 to 5 units by September of 2018. This would help to maintain cleaner neighborhoods and windblown litter. If the property has recyclable dumpster, they would be exempt from this ordinance.

Our last agenda item is a communication from the Chittenden Solid Waste District on their proposed budget for FY18.

We expect to have an Executive Session following our deliberative agenda on the Moran redevelopment.

As with all Council meetings, please keep in mind that you are always welcome to come and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm. Clickable agenda items can be found on the City's website: https://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public All Council meetings are televised live on BT Channel 317 and streamed live to your computer or phone.

As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please be in touch over the weekend and on Monday.

My best,
Karen
