The Williamstown/Northfield proposed district merger vote is coming right up!
As a school board member, Williamstown resident and parent, I urge you to vote yes on this merger.
1. Our kids will have greater learning opportunities and increased flexibility in their curriculum with access to additional subject matter experts.
2. The plan is still keep the Blue Devils and Marauders. There is pride in both towns surrounding HS sports and there is no plan to change that.
3. Savings will be found as administrative functions combine and become more efficient.
4. If the town votes no, the state WILL force us to merge with another district. If this is our fate, we will lose any financial incentives that come with a voluntary merger. We also risk being forced to merge with a district of different values and one that the town does not have a desire to be aligned with.
Northfield shares our community and educational values. We have a strong relationship established.
Vote Yes on May 2nd to merge Williamstown and Northfield school districts.
In addition to voting on the merger, voters are asked to vote on new school board members for the new district.
