Please join us on Monday May 8 at 4 pm for a slow-paced bike ride in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roads, including Middlebury's Kelly Boe for which the ride was started and named. Raise awareness that we all share the road and responsibility for keeping it safe.
We'll assemble at the Middlebury Union High School entrance between 3:30 and 4 pm to check in and sign the participant waiver. Copies of this will be on hand. You can speed the registration process by reading the attached copy in advance and arriving as close to 3:30 pm as possible to sign it so that we can depart by 4 pm. Please wear a helmet. We'll follow the some route as previous years (about 8 miles) through Middlebury and Weybridge via Weybridge St and Hamilton Rd, escorted by Middlebury Police and return to MUHS by about 5 pm. We ask cyclists to not cross the center median. We'll ride if there is gentle rain, but postpone to the following Monday May 15 if it's heavy rain, thunder or lightning.
Donations will be collected and greatly appreciated. Checks can be made out to the Town of Middlebury with "Safe Routes" indicated in the memo line. These funds will be dedicated toward improving bike parking and road safety.
Thanks to those volunteering to help with the ride including MUHS, Town of Middlebury Police Department, Addison County Sheriff, Frog Hollow Bike Center staff, other bike escorts and especially Kathy Boe.
Email Middlebury Safe Routes Coordinator Laura Asermily at lasermily@yahoo.com (not this whole list) if you're able to help with registration or escorting cyclists.
