Take the 3SquaresVT Challenge November 17-23

1 in 5 Vermont children live in food insecure households, meaning their families are unable to afford enough food to fully meet their basic needs for nutrition all the time. 3SquaresVT is a federal nutrition program designed to decrease hunger by giving Vermonters money to buy more nutritious food each month. Currently 1 in 6 Vermonters (about 100,000) receive 3SquaresVT benefits. Each November during National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Hunger Free Vermont asks Vermonters to put themselves and their family in the shoes and the shopping carts of their neighbors by living on a 3SquaresVT food budget for one week. The goal is to better understand what it’s like to make difficult food choices and how this affects daily life—and to then raise awareness about hunger, the importance of 3SquaresVT, and the importance of strengthening the nutrition safety net for Vermonters.
How will you eat on $36 a week ($1.72 a meal)? Sign up to take the 3SquaresVT Challenge at http://www.hungerfreevt.org/do/3squaresvt-challenge and spread the word!
