A Spring Wildflower Walk at Tracy Woods

Join South Hero Land Trust for “Exploring the Forested Landscape: A Spring Wildflower Walk at Tracy Woods” on April 22! Tracy Woods is a unique and beautiful natural resource in the center of South Hero, that South Hero Land Trust and Lake Champlain Land Trust are working together to protect through a conservation easement. As you may have read in the Islander or online, the two organizations are in the midst of a fundraising campaign to protect the land and open a mile of public access trails through the forest. With five natural forest communities, a thriving wetland, rich agricultural soils, and wonderful walking trails, Tracy Woods is a very special place for our community. We hope you’ll join us to explore the woods and learn more about our project.

During the April 22 walk we'll be looking for wildflowers, vernal pools, and other signs of spring in the diverse forest of Tracy Woods with UVM lecturer and naturalist Alicia Daniel, an expert in reading the history of the landscape through rock formations, soil horizons, stone walls and cellar holes. The walk will take place from 10-11:30 AM, and be followed by a Q & A session with South Hero Land Trust and Lake Champlain Land Trust staff. Please email emily@shlt.org or call 372-3786 to RSVP and get the details on directions and parking!
