CAPITAL CITY CONCERTS
Poem Music - Next Saturday - April 22 - 7:30PM
Unitarian Church of Montpelier
Works of Liszt, Handel, Debussy, Fauré, Frank Martin, and featuring the WORLD-PREMIERE of Evan Premo's "Songs from a Mountain Recluse" ~A song cycle setting of 5 poems by the late beloved poet David Budbill performed by soprano Mary Bonhag, flutist Karen Kevra, bassist Evan Premo, and pianist Jeffrey Chappell.
"Evan and I did a "walk-through" of his score last night and I was struck by gorgeous welcoming sonorities. It has a distinctly "Vermonty" sound --warm, and cyclical of the seasons -- at times rustic, joyful, and serene, and full of heart throughout. It's the perfect compliment to David's remarkable poetry," said Capital City Concerts Artistic Director Karen Kevra.
