Is your life affected by a long term (chronic) disease like arthritis, diabetes, asthma, heart disease, cancer, or lupus? Whether your own or that of a loved one, you are not alone and there is help and hope.
When it comes to a person's experience of their chronic condition, each is individual and like no other. There's no one sizes fits all when it comes to managing the day to day. Even your own experience varies from one moment to the next and so you need a large and varied tool box that is responsive to changing symptoms and needs.
These FREE workshops do just that: they increase the tools in your toolbox and they teach you how to think creatively to deal with whatever your condition demands of you. You'll learn to assess yourself in a way that leads to productive action rather than constant frustration. You'll learn, too, to be realistic and yet hopeful about what's possible.
Learn how to make daily choices to live healthier with chronic disease and decrease your risk of developing disabilities and related health problems in the coming years.
Though the day to day of chronic disease is challenging and sometimes overwhelming, the good news is that there's a lot you can do to manage symptoms and increase overall wellness.
WHAT THE PROGRAM OFFERS
You'll be in a group of other people who might not have your exact diagnosis but who share the experience of daily living that can feel interrupted by symptoms.
The trained facilitator will guide you through helpful material but the real help comes from the group and shared experiences and shared wisdom.
You'll focus on topics that come up with any chronic condition, such as:
•Problem solving and action planning
•Nutrition
•Exercise
•Medication use
•the emotional aspect of dealing with ongoing challenges
•learning to partner with your doctors and healthcare providers
TIMING
You'll meet once a week for 2.5 hours for six weeks at the Residence at Otter Creek in Middlebury.
(All of our workshops and groups are free.)
