APRIL
Francois Truffaut’s “Shoot the Piano Player” will conclude the Maple Corner Community Center’s winter film series this Friday, April 14 at 7:00. The protagonist of Truffaut’s 1962 film is Charlie Kohler (Charles Aznavour), a barroom musician who is hiding his past as a concert pianist. The film is an unusual mix of genres: it’s a romance and a gangster film with many comic elements. Andrew Sarris: “Shoot the Piano Player has risen steadily in critical esteem over the years until now it is universally considered a masterpiece of the film noir genre. It is not to be missed.” Rick Winston will introduce the film and lead a post-film discussion. Admission is by donation.
