During the Burlington City Council campaign last winter, as well as during my seven months serving on the Council, one of the issues I've heard the most about from concerned citizens is the city pension dilemma. I'd like to encourage all interested residents of our New North End neighborhoods to attend the Pension Summit this coming Tuesday, November 5, from 5 to 8 pm in City Hall's Contois Auditorium. The Pension Summit - a joint effort of the City Administration and the City Council - is intended to be an educational discussion about Burlington's retirement system. The discussion is meant to foster a shared understanding of the pension system's importance, history, financial challenges, and potential solutions. This has implications not just for city employees but for everyone in our community. The Pension Summit is an opportunity for broad-based community engagement on this important issue. Please join me, Mayor Weinberger, my fellow city councillors, and your friends and neighbors for this important community dialog on Tuesday evening.
