Continuing its series of classic movies from the 50s, FOLA (Friends of Ludlow Auditorium) will feature the award-winning film, "On the Waterfront", on Saturday, April 8 at 7 PM in the Ludlow Town Hall Auditorium. Centered on corruption and life on Hoboken, New Jersey's mob-run waterfront the movie won many best acting and picture awards. The film stars Marlon Brando, Karl Malden, Rod Steiger, Eva Marie Saint, and Lee J Cobb. Directed by Elia Kazan, the film traces the story of an ex-boxer, working on the docks of Hoboken's waterfront, who is challenged to step up to the mobsters who control the longshoremen's' union by appearing before a state commission as a witness after his lawyer brother and best friend are rubbed out. Prodding him to this calling are the local priest and the girl he loves -- the sister of his murdered friend. The movie is open to everyone and is free; donations are appreciated.
