Japanese Tea Dinner - 53 Stations of Tokaido Road

Past event
Apr 29, 4 PM to 9 PM, Apr 30, 2017

*this event is happening on two dates: April 29th AND 30th — 4PM-9PM
Join Chef Richard Witting and Tea Master Ben Youngbaer at Setting Sun Teahut for a unique tea and food pairing. These events are the third in our four-part exploration of the old Tokaido Road, famously illustrated by Japanese printmaker Utagawa Hiroshige.
Each dinner takes us further along the Tokaido as we visit the next 13 stations—from bustling Hamamatsu, home of the famous Tokugawa Ieyasu, to the Shinto festivals of Miya. Together we will reflect on each of these stations, the season, and the history of the road while enjoying 13 tastings of japanese tea, food, and drink.
This dinner can accomodate Vegetarians, Vegans and Gluten Free eaters if we are notified a week in advance. Please state any allergies upon purchasing ticket and if you are purchasing tickets for someone else please inquire about any allergies or food preferances.
This will be a small special one-time dinner so don’t hesitate if you’re thinking of joining us as seat may sell out.
In addition to our ticket the tea cups used for the dinner will be custom made for the event and will be purchasable by guests (either with the link here or at the dinner)

**For this dinner We have a special offer. I have Commisioned teacups from two potters. Marisa Patti of Wild Earth Ceramics, and former Plainfielder/Marshfielder, Polly Cook! There will 10 cups available from each artist. They can be reserved/purchased through the Eventbrite link below for $15 (They are only available to guests of the dinner)

Tickets are $60 per person ($75 if you get a teacup, too)
The two event dates will have the same food/tea. There are 20 seats available for each day.
