Davis Studio
Family/Community Event
Saturday, April 8th

5-6:30 suggested for families with young children (birth – grade 4)
7:30-9 suggested for families with older children (grade 2 and older….focus on middle school)

Join neighbors and friends for the Common Roots FUNdraiser at the Davis Studio on Saturday, April 8th and support Common Roots as they take the next steps to expand the Community Food Shares program. By purchasing a commercial refrigerator and freezer at cost from Kittredge for the Wheeler House, more families in need will come to select nutritious foods each week. This equipment will enable Common Roots to serve more families.

A very generous family in our community will match dollar for dollar up to $3,500 to support our equipment needs. There is no food shelf in South Burlington. One in five families in Vermont face food security issues. South Burlington School District social workers identify the families each year and there is a waiting list. The kitchen and this equipment will serve other community programs as well.

Goal of April 8th:
Raise $7,000 for commercial equipment for the Wheeler House to expand our Community Food Shares program and food education.

Four helpful things to do:
1. Chat with your friends and your parents to plan for this opportunity.
2. If you are available to “Make a Difference”, go to our website and indicate you are coming to this event. This will help us understand if we are reaching our target of 100 for each session. www.commonroots.org
3. If you are not able to attend, yet would like to be part of this success in raising $7,000, please go to our website to donate. All gifts are tax-deductible.
4. If mailing a check is easier, the Common Roots address is:
PO Box 9335
South Burlington, VT 05407

Hope to see you on April 8th! It will be fun with an outcome that addresses the issue of hunger in our community and provides a space for nutrition education and community programs!
