Special Selectboard Meeting Announcement

At the 2017 Cambridge Town Meeting, ideas were raised about making town meeting more representative of all voters. At that time, it was voted to recommend that the Selectboard investigate the issue.

On Monday April 3rd at 7:30PM, the Cambridge Selectboard plans to create a committee to perform an in-depth study of town meeting attendance and participation. This ongoing “Community Engagement Team” will define a mission statement, then meet on a regular basis to research, discuss, and ultimately make recommendations for improving the voting process.

The current plan is for a seven-member committee, with five members from the community-at-large, one Selectperson, and the Town Clerk. This model was introduced in the book “All Those in Favor” by Susan Clark & Frank Bryan, published by RavenMark. The model has been successfully implemented by several towns across Vermont.

If you would like to be considered for the committee, please call the Town Office at 644-2251 and submit your name prior to the meeting. All members of the community are invited to attend the discussion On Monday April 3rd at 7:30PM in the Cambridge Town Office.
