THE FRENCH CONNECTION presented by Bill Cotte

The latter part of the 19th century and the early part of the 20th saw the rise of a truly 'nationalist' voice in classical music, concurrent with the impressionist school of the visual arts in Paris under the influence of Monet, Renoir, and Degas. The two composers whose music reflected the philosophy and style of this new 'Impressionism' were Debussy and Revel. Join us as we explore this unique music in sight and sound.

St. Johnsbury Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of the University of Vermont presents the Spring 2017 Lecture Series on a variety of topics. THE FRENCH CONNECTION is the fourth lecture of the series.
