Important Note: The study being discussed on March 28 is not to be confused with the Bay Road Underpass Pilot Project. The pilot project proposed a short term solution to a problem in a single location. The pilot project will be discussed again in June after additional data is collected.
Shelburne has received a grant to work with the CCRPC on a study to improve safety and mobility for pedestrians and bicyclists on the entire length of Bay Road. Shelburne’s Comprehensive Plan (also known as the Town Plan) strongly promotes bicycle and walking. Additionally, in 2011, Vermont passed Complete Streets legislation, which requires the state and all municipalities to consider the needs of all users in all projects and all phases, regardless of funding source. Completing this study will make the Town eligible for outside funding that can be used to implement projects that benefit pedestrians and bicyclists.
Please consider coming to the meeting on March 28 at 6pm (Town Offices) to share your ideas and concerns. For more information, go to: http://www.shelburnevt.org/441/Bay-Road-Pedestrian-Cyclist-Mobility-Stu
