Preview of March 27 City Council Meeting

Past event
Mar 27, 2017, 7 to 9:30 PM

Dear Neighbors,

This coming Monday, the City Council will convene its second of two meetings for the month of March. Prior to our Council meeting, we will have an Executive Session updating the Council on negotiations with New Moran. Following this Executive Session, we will hold a brief Local Control Commission meeting at 7pm in Contois Auditorium. The Council meeting will begin immediately after the Commission meeting.

The first item on our agenda will be a presentation from Gene Richards, Director of Aviation at our Airport. He will be speaking about the history of noise mitigation programs at the Airport and what the City is doing to address noise concerns. After this presentation, we will have another presentation, this one from Doreen Kraft, Director of Burlington City Arts, about a process for creating a new flag for our City.

Our deliberative includes three resolutions. The first is proclaiming April “Fair Housing Month.” The other two resolutions are regarding amendments to our Council rules. The first is regarding Mayoral vetoes and the second is regarding amending our rules to allow for a motion to reconsider a vote to our next meeting.

We expect to have two Executive Sessions following our deliberative agenda. The first is an update on negotiations with UVM and the second is on Burlington Town Center litigation.

As with all Council meetings, please keep in mind that you are always welcome to come and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm. Clickable agenda items can be found on the City's website: https://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public All Council meetings are televised live on BT Channel 317 and streamed live to your computer or phone.

As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please be in touch over the weekend and on Monday.

My best,
Karen
