Backyard Composting Workshop Apr 5

Past event
Apr 5, 2017, 6 to 8 PM

Do you want to compost in your backyard as a cheap and environmentally-friendly way to dispose of your food scraps, but have questions or concerns about what to compost, and if there will be odors or attracting animals?

Then come to the Backyard Composting Workshop - Wednesday, April 5, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at the Barre Town offices to learn how to compost right to address these concerns and more! The presenter will also demonstrate how to build easy bins out of affordable materials.

Ready-made backyard composting equipment will also be available at the workshop for purchase at-cost. If you think you will purchase, call Cassandra at the solid waste district in advance at 229-9383 x102. Otherwise, there is no need to register for the workshop.

Free! Brought to you by the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District and Barre Town, in response to resident requests for more information about residential composting to comply with Act 148, the Universal Recycling Law. The law bans landfilling of food scraps beginning July 1, 2020.
