Wildlife Open House Meeting – meet your wardens and biologists

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department is hosting a Wildlife Open House at Middlebury High School on Saturday, March 25, from 12:30 to 5 p.m.

Biologists will give presentations and answer questions about Vermont’s wildlife and what’s being done to conserve species and their habitats. Fish & Wildlife Commissioner Louis Porter, Fish and Wildlife Board members and state game wardens also will be on hand to listen to concerns and answer questions. The meeting will include reports on results of Vermont’s 2016 deer, moose, bear, and turkey seasons as well as a proposal for the 2017 moose hunting season. Information also will be provided on the Farm Bill Program, bear-wind research, chronic wasting disease, bear-human conflicts, and Vermont’s habitat stamp program.

There will also be a furbearer identification session for kids that will give children an opportunity to get hands on with a variety of wildlife species led by Theresa Elmer, vice-chair of the Fish and Wildlife Board. Free refreshments will be available.
