The 'Young Folks Doing Old Stuff' conference is presented by Young Tradition Vermont, and sponsored by the Quebec Government Office in Boston, the Vermont Folklife Center, Castleton University and others. The conference features presentations and workshops by educators and scholars from Québec and throughout New England, focusing on using traditional music and dance in educational settings. Sessions will be suitable for those working with children across the age range, with some sessions focusing on children (through age 12) and youth (teens). As keynote speaker, Lisa Ornstein will begin the conference and set the tone for the rest of the day, and special guest Tony Seeger and workshop leaders Andy Cohen with William Lee Ellis and Eleanor Ellis, Pete Sutherland, Mélissandre Tremblay-Bourassa, Pierre Chartrand, Katie Trautz & Julia Wayne (Mayfly) and representatives from TradNation from Quebec will provide hands-on opportunities to see, hear about and try out ways to incorporate traditional music and/or dance in public, private, home school and after school settings.
