TOWNSHEND Leland & Gray students in an elective course, Mind the Map, are learning Irish and English culture, history and literature while planning a 13-day excursion to the UK. All hands-on, all self-funded, this learning-on-the road adventure welcomes the support of Four Columns Inn in Newfane at one of the Inn's music nights on March 29.

On March 29, from 6 to 9PM, patrons are welcome to have a meal in Four Columns main dining room or go more casual in the pub. A portion of the night's proceeds will be donated to L&G's Mind the Map excursion.

Music slated is Bard Owl, a new acoustic duo with Breeze Verdant and Annie Landenberger delivering driving rhythms and sweet harmonies inold tunes and new. Verdant plays guitar, works the stompbox drum with his feet, and sings. At age 3 he started singing Little Richard and Elvis interspersed with military tunes while laying in bed at night. He has since dropped the military sounds, allows others to sleep and always loves a good tune. Annie Landenberger has been singing in all genres since age 6 when she regaled her parents' dinner guests with a litany of Mitch Miller favorites.

Together Bard Owl’s new sound delivers an eclectic range of tunes from traditional to original with unexpected rhythms, danceable beats and well-blended harmonies. Special guest for the evening will be well-known area musician, Dan DeWalt.

Travelers include Madison Chase, Veronica Stevens, John Butler, Maddi Russ, Kelsi Bostrom, Nastia Stevens, Rebecca Williams, Hannah Petronic and teachers Ron Kelley and Annie Landenberger.
