Hello! I just wanted to invite you all to an event that Vermont Law School is putting on next week, just up the road in South Royalton. On Friday, March 24, VLS is hosting an all-day Solutions Conference with panelists from all across the country discussing various aspects of environmental justice. In addition to the keynote speakers, experts in several fields are hosting breakout sessions where folks can pick a topic that most interests them and have smaller discussions about how to create practical solutions to specific problems and to learn about what groups are working on already in both Vermont and all across the country to fight climate change, racism, consumerism, apathy, sexism, and many other atrocious and overwhelming abuses. Some of the breakout sessions include: food deserts and sustainable agriculture, environmental injustice in Puerto Rico, renewable energy barriers, grassroots organizing, women/families and environmental justice, Tribal/sovereignty issues, Title VI, toxins and water, and climate change.
You can come check it out for however much time you'd like (take a peek at the agenda in the link and see if any of the breakout group descriptions resonate with you) - It is completely free and open to anyone, any age or occupation or level of background knowledge in environmental justice. If you could register online that would be great so we can get a heads up! This registration link has a schedule as well as more descriptions: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bridging-the-gap-between-the-promise-and-the-reality-of-environ[...]es2
Hope to see you there! Warmly,
Kira (feel free to email me if you have any questions! kirakelley@vermontlaw.edu)
