DO NOT JUDGE, FOR YOU TOO WILL BE JUDGED will be Pastor Mathews’ second sermon in the series “Four Hard Teachings of Jesus” (Matthew 7:1-6). This is a common verse used against Christians.
Who are you to Judge, doesn't the Bible say 'Judge not'? What did Jesus really mean by judge not? The Bible says ' God did not send his son to condemn the world but to save the world through him'. Judging is wrong when you dismiss people because of what they are.
As believers in Christ, we are called to love a person more than we love our position on a particular issue. (Love for God and love for Neighbor dominates our lives - they do not contradict each other). This is not a compromise of what you believe in, but rather commitment to love a person to bring him/her closer to the Gospel truth. Jesus loved us while we were still sinners. How can we say to someone 'depart from me' when God didn't say that to us. Come listen. This week is a communion week.
Also, on March 26, the ‘Hard Teaching” will be THE LAST WILL BE FIRST AND THE FIRST WILL BE LAST. It is for the poor, the needy, the broken and the depraved that the gospel makes sense. Although the concept of 'self- made man' may sound very inspiring in contemporary culture, within the Christian world view it really does not find any place.
TEENS
On April Fools Day, the TEENS are going ROCK CLIMBING FROM 1 – 3 PM. There will be food! Cost is $10, but there is help to pay if needed. Emma Lamberton leads the TEEN GROUP, and can be contacted by calling Pastor Mathews at the Church.
Also, last week’s Teen Dinner was a huge success. Ten young people from the area had great fun sharing dinner and playing games together.
The Middletown Springs Community Church welcomes everyone to its 10 am Sunday Worship gathering, which is followed by a POTLUCK LUNCH of soups, breads and more. During the service, there is childcare for infants and toddlers, and Children’s Church for kids up to grade six.
