Poet Pamela Heinrich will discuss her book, "Vigil: The Poetry of Presence," a collection of sixty-five poems written from the perspective of a seasoned hospice volunteer sitting vigil with individuals in the last days and moments of their life. A native of Burlington, MacPherson has been a community advocate for end-of-life care for over three decades. She is a graduate of the Jeanne Mance School of Nursing and served as Hospice Volunteer Coordinator for the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of Chittenden and Grand Isle County. She is a founding member of VNA’s Madison-Deane Initiative, an organization that seeks to change the face of dying through education of the general public and healthcare professionals.

Both events will take place at the Joslin Library and are presented by the Friends of the Joslin Library. They are free and open to the public.
