Film: Enemy at the Gates Rescheduled

Past event
Mar 17, 2017, 6:30 to 8:30 PM

The Film "Enemy at the Gates" has been rescheduled to Friday, March 17 at 6:30 PM because of the predicted snowstorm. The Jeudevine Library is showing the film as part of a series of programs revolving around the book SYMPHONY FOR THE CITY OF THE DEAD: Dmitri Shostakovich and the Siege of Leningrad by MT Anderson. "Enemy at the Gates is a 2001 American-French war film written and directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. The film's title is taken from William Craig's nonfiction book Enemy at the Gates: The Battle for Stalingrad (1973), which describes the events surrounding the Battle of Stalingrad in the winter of 1942/43. Although fictional, the film is loosely based on war stories told by Soviet sniper Vasili Zaitsev." (Source: Wikipedia)

This is the first in a series of programs with the collaboration of the Jeudevine Library, the Greensboro Library, the Craftsbury Library and the Craftsbury Chamber Players revolving around MT Anderson's book: Symphony for the City of the Dead: Dmitri Shostakovich and the Siege of Leningrad.

Next is the book discussion below. In April MT Anderson will be at the Craftsbury Library on Friday, April 28 at 7 PM and in May the Craftsbury Chamber players will do a concert featuring music from the period.
