FROM BUTTERFLIES TO BIRDS TO BEARS WITH SUE MORSE OF KEEPING TRACK
A special event hosted by the Woods, Wildlife and Warblers Program for Southern VT Landowners (info below)

Looking to learn more about the forests of Vermont and the wildlife that inhabit them?

Join us for a wildlife presentation from 8am to 10am at the Dorset Village Library. Following the presentation, we will head out to the field in Rupert for the remainder of the day at the property of Alan Calfee – a consulting forester and Vermont Woodlands Association member. This 800 acre property is situated in the beautiful Mettowee Valley and features rich northern hardwoods forest and mountainous landscapes.

See and hear about a variety of topics, including bear biology and ecology, as well as the positive outcome of various forest management practices as they stimulate more productive and diversified food and cover resources for the benefit of all wildlife, from butterflies and birds to bears.

We are inviting forest landowners, loggers, and consulting foresters. In the field, we will experience a variety of wildlife detection and habitat assessment techniques, with an emphasis on discovering how bears feed and communicate within the forest community.

Program is free; pre-registration is required.
Bring a bag lunch and dress appropriately for the weather.
Attendance is limited to 25 so don’t delay!

Woods, Wildlife and Warblers is a partnership between Audubon Vermont, the Vermont Tree Farm Committee, Vermont Woodlands Association, and the American Forest Foundation. We couldn't accomplish our work without the help of the rest of our partners, including Vermont Coverts, Vermont's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department, and Vermont's Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation.

Our focus is on providing southern Vermont landowners with the knowledge, tools, and resources that will allow them to better care for their woods and the critters that call them home.We offer free, no obligation services to landowners, such as informational materials and site visits from a woodland expert.
