Before the word "Localvore" was an apple in its mother's eye, the Starksboro Conservation Commission began hosting our annual Harvest Supper supplied with almost entirely local ingredients. It's our gesture to say thanks to our hard-working farmers and to support them in keeping the land working and our kids nourished.

This year, for our 11th annual Harvest Supper, there will be CHILI (Turkey, Beef, and Vegetarian), RJ's nitty-gritty-yummy CORNBREAD, Trunzo's famous smokey-smooth rich SQUASH SOUP, crunchy veggies with delicious dips, AND, for the first time, to rake in the kids, LOCAL GRILLED CHEESE sandwiches featuring Otter Creek Bakery bread and Cabot cheddar! To top it off, perhaps the FINEST FEATURE OF ALL...a mouthwatering wide variety of PIES made in home ovens 'cross hill and dale in Starksboro - apple, pecan, pumpkin, etc. Boyer's cider and Vermont-roasted coffee too.

When this feast of bounty? This Saturday, Nov. 2, starting at 5:30pm. Where praytell? Robinson School, downtown Starksboro village. How much? Why, just $10/adult, $5/kid or $25/family - and the proceeds go to the Four Winds educational program in Starksboro. Questions? call Matt Witten: 434-3236.
