A State Bank for Vermont

Past event
Mar 6, 2017, 1:30 to 3 PM

What do you know about state banking? Do you know how it could allow us to keep the profits that now flow to the big banks who hold our state deposits (funds that currently flow to things many of us don't support, like new oil pipelines and fracking infrastructure)? Do you know how it could increase the money available for special projects in the State, like solar and wind power? Do you know about the financing structures our state already has in place, that could be harnessed for state banking?

There's a citizen movement afoot to educate our representatives about the power a State Bank would give us to control our on-deposit state monies for the good of all Vermonters, and the next important event is a first-ever Citizens' Commission, convening in Montpelier in Room 11 of the State House, at 1:30 on Monday, March 6th.

The more voices we can gather, the better our message will spread! We need to get the ear of a critical mass of our legislators to move an investigation of this potential boon for Vermont to the next level. Come learn more about public banking, and have some fun in the process. Hope to see you there!
