Join us on Sunday, March 5 at 2:00 as Hildene President Seth Bongartz, now in his 16th year at the helm, shares his perspective on those years, as well as the vision and goals for the future of the 412 acre Lincoln estate. This is an open invitation to the community to consider, as Hildene Trustees have, the possibilities when a historic Lincoln site rooted in the past commits literally and figuratively to putting down new roots for future generations. One need only drive down the mile-long entrance road, past the goat dairy and cheese-making facility and restored Pullman car, Sunbeam, to the 100 year old carriage barn, now the Welcome Center at 1005 Hildene Road, to get a glimpse. A drive a few miles down River Road in Manchester past Hildene Meadows, now Dene Farm, reveals even more about what the future holds. The agricultural/environmental learning campus with its 150 by 30 foot teaching greenhouse, compost facility, bobolink sanctuary and 600’ floating wetland boardwalk also provide a hint of what is already afoot. This presentation hosted by the library, provides a rare opportunity to learn what exciting things are happening just down the road a piece. Call us at 802-375-6153 for more information.
