Discussion Series at Warren and Joslin Memorial Libraries, in collaboration with the Vermont Humanities Council, the Warren Public and Joslin Memorial Libraries present a book discussion series titled “20th Century U.S. Conflicts: The Rise of a Superpower.” Facilitated by historian Alan Berolzheimer, we will consider the wars that made the United States a world power - or called its power into question. The next in the series will be America’s Great War: World War I and the American Experience by Robert Zieger. The series will wrap up with a discussion of Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winner A Bright Shining Lie: John Paul Vann and America in Vietnam by Neil Sheehan. Multiple copies of the books for each discussion are available at both libraries.

Alan Berolzheimer is the project historian and assistant director of The Flow of History, a Teaching American History program providing professional development activities to Vermont teachers. Alan received a Ph.D. in 20th-century U.S. History from the University of Virginia in 1996. He lives in Norwich, VT.

The series will be held at 6:30pm on Fridays: March 3 at the Warren Public Library and March 31 at the Joslin Memorial Library. Free and open to all. Warren Library events are accessible to the mobility impaired. For more information, contact Ivan Tabanin at 496-3913 or programs@warrenlibrary.com.
