Open Data Day Social & Lightning Presentations on Sat.!

Mar 4, 2017, 6 to 8 PM

Burlington’s Code for America Brigade, ‘Code for BTV,’ is inviting the community to gather with us on March 4th in appreciation of the civic tech movement, data transparency, and what it can mean to the city, state, and country. March 4th is international Open Data Day, a celebration of how more and more data is being made available for anyone to work with to make their community better.

We are looking for community members to share brief ‘lightning presentations’ (i.e., 5-10 minute talks) over the course of an hour about projects they’ve worked on that use publicly available data. If you have worked on any projects that use open data, or that promote data transparency, for the civic good, we would love to have you present your work! Government projects, local non-profit projects, private projects – any projects that use open data, make data open, or collect open data, to help the world, are welcome. If you have an idea for an open data based project, and need help, let us know you want to come share that, and we’ll see if anyone wants to join your cause.

The Code for BTV Open Data Day Social runs from 6-8pm at Big Heavy World, located inside the SEABA Center at 404 Pine Street. ‘Lightning Presentations’ will start at 6:30pm. The venue is wheelchair accessible. For more information: info@bigheavyworld.com or www.codeforbtv.org. We know we appreciate your sharing, and we believe many others will want to hear your stories about working with open data, too. Hope to see you there!
