Past event
Mar 1, 2017, 1 to 10:30 PM

This Wednesday, March 1, the Marquis Theater in downtown Middlebury is offering a special showing of the film "I Am Not Your Negro". Showtimes are 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m and the film is 95 minutes long. Please join us in supporting our friends at the Marquis Theater by purchasing dinner. We’ll be having an informal discussion about racial justice in Vermont in the cafe area of the theater between 6 and 7 p.m.

Based on James Baldwin's unfinished manuscript "Remember This House" and narrated by actor Samuel L. Jackson, "I Am Not Your Negro" explores the history of racism in the United States through Baldwin's memories of civil rights leaders Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. It is a must-see film for anyone interested in liberty and justice for all, now and in the future.

A suggested donation of $10 will support Black Lives Matter Vermont and Middlebury Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ). Everyone is welcome regardless of ability to pay.

This film screening is sponsored by Middlebury SURJ, Otter Creek Yoga and the Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Society.
