Dear Neighbors,
This coming Monday, the City Council will convene its second of two meetings for the month of February. Following a brief Local Control Commission meeting that will begin at 7pm in Contois Auditorium in City Hall, we will convene begin our Council meeting immediately following.
We have a limited but nonetheless important agenda Monday night. Our first item is a presentation on the proposed process and timeline for the sale of Burlington Telecom. The Burlington Telecom Advisory Board, of which I am a member, has been working for the past year to develop criteria for the entity we believe, based on a great deal of community input, are essential in the next owner of Burlington Telecom. We have studied the various processes we could follow to attract the ideal owner for our community. The chair of the BTAB, David Provost, will be presenting our findings and proposal to the full Council for its consideration.
We will be voting on an indoor entertainment permit for Esperanza Restaurante and an outdoor permit for the Spot at the Dock, our newest dining establishment to the Waterfront.
We will also get an update on the Annual City election. Please note there is a public informational hearing on the ballot items on the Town Meeting Day ballot on Wednesday, March 1 at 5:30pm in Contois Auditorium.
As with all Council meetings, please keep in mind that you are always welcome to come and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm. Clickable agenda items can be found on the City's website:
https://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public All Council meetings are televised live on BT Channel 317 and streamed live to your computer or phone.
As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please be in touch over the weekend and on Monday.
My best,
Karen
