Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 7:00 PM
Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Society
2 Duane Street, Middlebury, VT

Presentation: Norma Norland of New Haven will be sharing slides and commentary entitled “5 weeks plus” in Patagonia. We hope you can join us in viewing and learning more about this remote and beautiful part of the world. The famed “W” circuit in Torres del Paine National Park in Chile was one of the highlights of a five week-plus trip to Argentinian and Chilean parts of Patagonia that she and her husband Ken undertook several years ago. Besides time spent in Buenos Aires, they visited northern Patagonia where estancias are measured in the hundreds of thousands of acres, trekked in Glacier National Park in Argentina, a famed climbing destination, and rounded off the physical exertions of the trip with a cruise through the Beagle Channel and Magellan Strait.

Speaker: Norma and her hiking partner, husband Ken, have lived in in Vermont residents for several years, have a lot of family in the state, with Massachusetts their former home. Ken, who passed away after a long illness, was a physical chemist at Polaroid during that company's best years, and Norma spent some twenty years as an administrator at MIT, the director of their undergraduate research program.

Open to the public. Refreshments served. Admission is free, however voluntary donations to support the GMC Education Program will be accepted.
