The Hard Problem of Consciousness with Joe Alper
The “hard problem” of consciousness involves the explanation of what it is like to have experiences of things like colors and pains. A recent analysis proposes that current scientific and psychological theories will never be able to explain such phenomena. An entirely new theory will be needed which will have remarkable implications for understanding both human minds and computer artificial intelligence.
The lecture is free and open to the public and will be held in Peacham Library’s Community Center, a space recently renovated with funding from the Vermont Arts Council Grant, Passumpsic Savings Bank and support from the community. The space is ADA accessible. For more information contact Peacham Library at 592-3216 or visit www.peachamlibrary.org.
