Neighbors, i recommend you come out and see this lovely concert:
Vermont's premiere vocal ensemble Counterpoint will visit three towns in Vermont this month to present performances of motets and flute sonatas by the great German Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach. Accompanying Counterpoint are three celebrated Vermont musicians: Karen Kevra, a Grammy-nominated flutist, Vermont Symphony Orchestra principal cellist John Dunlop, & Mary Jane Austin on harpsichord.
Born in 1685, J. S. Bach is one of the most admired composers of all time. His works span virtually every genre of his age and feature intense expressivity and dazzling contrapuntal technique. Counterpoint chose these pieces to please both Bach aficionados and newcomers to his elaborateand finely crafted music. The program alternates motets such as the popular "Lobet den Herrn" and the seldom-heard "Der Geist hilft unser Schwachheit auf," including works with solo flute, such as the beloved E-minor sonata along with many others.
