Senator Bernie Sanders delighted to see young people coming together for Annual Youth Summit.
The organizers of Youth Summit of Bennington, sponsored by United Counseling Service’s Teens for Change is proud to announce that a Representative from the Office of Bernie Sanders will be at the Summit to discuss Senator Sanders’ work on grassroots movements and specific ways that young people can become and stay engaged. The Youth Summit will take place on Thursday, February 23rd from 9am- 3pm at Mount Anthony High School in Bennington.
“Our nation is facing a lot of challenges: a growing wealth and income gap, climate change, and a crippling student loan debt. While these problems can seem intractable at times, it is clear that if we are going to address these problems, we have to make sure we are doing everything possible to engage our youth and give them the skills and confidence they need to be successful”, said Senator Bernie Sanders. “I’m delighted to see young people coming together in Bennington for the Annual Youth Summit and look forward to hearing a report of how it goes.”
This is the third year that UCS has hosted the Youth Summit. The theme of the Summit, ‘Healthy State of Mind’, provides a focus for teens to explore what mental wellness, community wellness and substance abuse prevention may mean to individuals and the Bennington community as a whole. This year there are new features added to the event including special recognition to individuals who have stood out in the community by demonstrating leadership and empowerment.
The summit is open to any individual aged thirteen to nineteen. To register for this free event visit www.eventbrite.com and search Youth Summit of Bennington. If you have any questions please contact Katrina Hollis at KHollis@UCSVT.org or 802-442-5491 ext. 503.
