Dear friends and neighbors:
In honor of International Mother Language Day, which asserts the right of indigenous and minority peoples to be able to speak, read and write in their mother tongues, I have created an exhibition of 12 of my Endangered Alphabets carvings, which will go on display in the CCM building on the Champlain College campus from February 20-March 10.
Each hand-made carving features the phrase "mother tongue" in a different endangered written language: Abenaki, Sylheti, Mandaic, Syriac, Baybayin, Kalmyk, Manchu, Thaana, Javanese, Thai Lanna, Arakanese and Sundanese. If you'd like a guided tour, please contact me at brookes@champlain.edu.
