Spirit in Nature Annual Meeting: Eco-Spirit Award

Past event
Feb 19, 2017, 4 to 5:30 PM

Spirit in Nature (SpIN), maintains a series of trails in the woods off Goshen Road in Ripton is holding its Annual Meeting this Sunday, February 19 at 4:00 in the Community Room at The Ilsley Library. Following a very brief business meeting, SpIN will present this year's Eco-Spirit Award. The citation reads: "The Eco-Spirit Award is presented annually to persons whose lives are illuminated by their appreciation of the beauty, mystery, and preciousness of the natural world. They are dynamic role models who engage us in debate, and urge us to explore the implications of our behavior during our present global environmental crisis. They lead us to a path of hope for the future of all life and nature on earth." The Award was first presented in 2001 to Bill McKibben. This year's award goes to Marc Lapin who teaches in the Environmental Studies Program at Middlebury College for his work as an instructor, a working ecologist and his interest in 'spiritual ecology.' It is particularly fitting in light of the citation quoted above as Marc facilitated the Joanna Macy, Active Hope Workshop a couple of Saturdays ago, helping 80 of us commit more to these values. The award will be presented by the 2012 Award winner, David Brynn, of Vermont Family Forests and UVM. For information call Ron Slabaugh, 802 458-7549
