Clock Talk at Holcomb House Sunday

Past event
Feb 12, 2017, 2 PM

At the end of the 1700s only one American family in ten owned a clock and all needed a regular winding to run as early clocks worked with wooden clock movements. Today there are clocks everywhere with lots of different operating systems. It is interesting to learn about some of the clocks used during the past 300 years.

Steve Engel will share his knowledge about some notable old clocks including the Historical Society's pillar and scroll clock, a Seth Thomas clock, and the town clock in the tower at the Masonic Temple at 2 PM.

Want to learn more about a clock that you own? Bring the clock or a picture to the Clock Talk and Steve will tell you what he knows about it.

The Holcomb House is opened from 1 to 4 PM on Sunday with the free talk starting at 2 PM. Questions, contact Lois at 635-7826.
