Charge up your week! Feel connected and inspired through freedom songs from the past and present.
We've been starting to focus more on songs that work well at rallies and protests, so that eventually we can lead them in future marches, either individually, or as a group. We're not professional singers, so it's been very much a learning process. One of our short-term goals is to start collecting materials that help people learn these songs--lyrics, but also videos--so that people who can't make it on Sundays can still connect with the music, which is this really rich way to connect to the struggles of the past, and to learn from them.
But on Sundays... we really try to keep it simple. Come, sing, meet some folks who also like to sing, pick up a few songs, and start your week with a spring in your step! Last week we were locked out of the Root and had to postpone our meeting, but we're ready to go this Sunday at the same place--
The Root Social Justice Center on Williams Street from 3-4pm. Bring a song that you'd like to sing or lead, if you feel so inclined, or just come and listen. All are welcome!
