Mark Breen will present "Pluto And Beyond" for the fourth Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) lecture series, on February 8, at the Town and Country Resort, 876 Mountain Road, Stowe. Doors open at 1 p.m. and the lecture begins promptly at 1:30 p.m. There is a $5.00 fee.
Mark will provide information about the "New Horizons" spacecraft that was launched in July 2015 and recently passed close to Pluto, sending a great deal of new and useful information back to earth. He will also address why astronomers are interested in studying the planets.
Mark Breen is a familiar name to many. He can be heard on VPR and other radio stations presenting the weather and he has a daily radio spot, “Eye on the Night Sky” on VPR. He is the senior meteorologist at the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium and is Plaetarium Director for the Lyman Spitzer Jr. Planetarium in St. Johsnbury, VT.
