The Springfield Art & Historical Society will present a program based on the book, Death by Petticoat, Historical Myths Debunked, by Mary Miley Theobald on Saturday, February 18 at 2:00 pm at the Society’s facility at 65 Route 106 in North Springfield. We have all heard, or even passed on, some of these little gems! Notions such as, skirts catching fire was the major cause of women’s death in colonial days or, when being painted, gentlemen tucked their hand into their jacket to save money. The 25 or so myths to be presented will include personal, culinary, household, and the arts. Come and find out which ones aren’t true or aren’t quite true. This program is free and open to the public. For more information, call 886-8430.
